Edward A. Copi, 89, of Monroe, passed away at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in his home.


Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Rupp Funeral Home. He will lie instate at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Church with a Mass of the Resurrection at 11 a.m. Rev. James Smalarz, pastor of the church, will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe.


Edward was born July 23, 1925 in Bentleyville, Pennsylvania. He was the son of John and Margaret (Gorse) Copi. He married Julia M. Curley April 15, 1950 at St. Joseph Church, she preceded him in death November 28, 2004.


He worked at the Ford Motor Company Monroe Plant until retiring in 1985.


Ed was a 1943 graduate of Monroe High School and a charter member of the Monroe Rod and Gun Club. He was also a member of UAW Local 723 and St. Joseph Church before it’s closing.


He was an avid deer hunter.


He is survived by four sons, Robert (Janice) Copi, William (Dorothy) Copi and Alan Copi all of Monroe and Raymond (Cari) Copi of South Haven , Michigan; two daughters, Linda (Wayne) Lochner and Sandra Butler both of Monroe; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.


In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.


In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be may made to Great Lakes Caring Hospice.
