EllisonCoolidge Henry Ellison, age 91, of Carleton, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, December 1, 2017, at 9:45 a.m.

 

Friends and family may visit from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, December 4, 2017, at Rupp Funeral Home, where services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. Rev. Danny L. Slater, Pastor of Rouge Freewill Baptist Church, Wyandotte, Michigan, will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.

 

Born December 1, 1926 in Speedwell, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Hugh and Mae (Macarty) Ellison. He married his loving wife of seventy-one years, Lillian Osborne, on August 11, 1946 in Monroe. Coolidge worked as a machinist for Detroit Stoker for thirty-one years, retiring in 1977. After his retirement, Coolidge continued to work for Denniston Theatre for fifty-seven years, beginning as a janitor and working all the way up to management. He enjoyed gardening, farming and raising cattle and chickens. Coolidge had a deep passion for helping others and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

To cherish his memory, he leaves his wife, Lillian; four children: Gerald (Margaret) Ellison, Janice (Robert) Menzel, Larry (Linda) Ellison and Kathy Thoma all of Carleton; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings: Harley Ellison, Hance Ellison, Minnie Leach and Bennie Ellsion.

 

Memorial contributions in his memory are suggested to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
