Clyde G. Grodi, 87, of Monroe, passed away at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at ProMedica Skilled Care and Rehab.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Rupp Funeral Home, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. John Chinnapppa, of St. Anne Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, with military honors by VFW Post 1138, Monroe.
Clyde was born September 23, 1927 in Monroe. He was the son of Ralphael H. and Lelah (McIntyre) Grodi. He married Betty Jane Wolfe December 28, 1945 in Monroe; she preceded him in death on November 17, 1985.
He was employed at Union Camp for many years, retiring in 1982. He then owned and operated Barnacle Bill’s Fish and Chips.
He was a life member of the VFW Post 3943, Newport.
Clyde had enjoyed hunting and outdoor activities, horse races, going to the casino, the Kangaroo Club and going on family vacations. He also enjoyed the time he spent in Florida as a “snowbird”.
He is survived by his children, Pamela J. (Donald) Lingar of Monroe, Russell L. Grodi of Monroe and Jeffrey E. Grodi of Monroe; his companion of 29 years, Doris J. McCelland of Monroe; a brother, Lester Grodi of Monroe; two grandchildren, April (Joel) Fix and Annette (Jeff) Peters and six great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by four brothers, Arthur, Robert, Carly and Ray Grodi and a sister Rita Evans.
